ASIFA East is turning to our membership to shake things up and add some new faces to our executive board. We meet monthly to plan future events, screenings, and our annual awards. ASIFA East greatly appreciates the time of our volunteers put in to make each ASIFA East season awesome. Check out the positions below:

Open Positions

ASIFA-East is a vibrant community made up of animation professionals and enthusiasts, in the New York Tri-State area and beyond. Board Members are the bandwidth of our operation. Board meetings are usually held on the first Wednesday of each month. All posts are volunteer and unpaid. We are looking for active members who would like to volunteer for the New York Chapter. Member Benefits Chair

  • Develop and strengthen member benefit programs.
  • Work directly with ASIFA-East members to promote their work and news updates on the website through a monthly or biweekly column.
  • Seek out and strengthen relationships with organizations and companies to cross-promote animation related events and activities both through online media and via special discounts and offers to ASIFA-East members.
  • Must possess strong communication skills both online and offline, be detail-oriented and follow up with clients and board members in a timely manner.

Social Media Coordinator

  • Develop and schedule social media campaigns for ASIFA-East events on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  • Update Events Calendar with tri-state area animation related events.
  • Put together Facebook and Event Brite events (as necessary) for ASIFA-East events.
  • Must possess strong communication skills both online and offline, be detail-oriented and follow up with board members in a timely manner.
  • Must possess strong understanding of social media best practices and emerging platforms.

Figure Drawing Moderator

  • Attend weekly (or bi monthly) figure drawing sessions
  • Keep track of time for model poses and direct the session
  • Assist in set up and break down drawing desks and modeling stage
  • Follow up with board members in a timely manner

aNYmator Bloggers

  • Create content for ASIFA-East’s online publication, the aNYmator: Report on local animation events you’ve attended, review films, discuss the latest animation techniques and issues of the day.
  • Proofreading and editing skills
  • Ability to write simply with a conversational style
  • Writing should be informative, but not verbose
  • Ability to use WordPress blogging software or willingness to learn
  • Bloggers need not be board members, but must be ASIFA-East members, can apply anytime

General Volunteer Board Membership

  • Brainstorm events for the organization
  • Help organize and run events
  • Willingness to pitch in and volunteer your skills as needed
  • Follow up with board members in a timely manner

How to Apply

All interested members should submit a short statement of 200 words or less as well as a current resume by September 30th to asifaeastinfo@gmail.com. Submitting does not guarantee you will be chosen as a candidate. The nominating committee will vet all candidates. Terms are generally 2 – 4 years but based on your volunteer availability.
