Hello there! Greetings from ASIFA-East! We hope you all enjoyed your 4th of July and that you are keeping cool this summer. Woo-ey, has it been hot.


ASIFA-East is officially on summer hiatus BUT – We’ve got some exciting news to pass along! The Toronto Animation Arts Festival International (TAAFI) has generously offered our membership a discount to their upcoming festival this July 26-28, 2013. In its second year, TAAFI is back presenting International feature films and shorts for all ages, as well as industry panels, workshops, and masterclasses. Highlights include:

-Industry Day: A full day of panels, talks and skills workshops, Friday July 26 at Corus Quay
-The kick off screening of Day of the Crows (Belgium 2012) July 26 at the TIFF Bell Lightbox
-THE NELVANA BOUNCING BALL – the biggest animation networking event of the year, July 27
– A Ray Harryhausen Retropspective with Q & A by collaborating filmmaker Mark Caballero

The ASIFA code was sent out this morning via email newsletter and is for 10% of Tickets and Passes. Please enter this code when purchasing tickets.  If you are a member and did not receive this code, please contact us and we’ll get that to you.

Drawing Classes: Life Drawing is happening through the month of July. There will be no classes in August. Classes are held at The Productive, 40 West 38th Street, on the 5th Floor every Thursday, from 7pm-10pm. Classes are free to all current ASIFA-East members, and are hosted by Dan Pinto and Emmett Goodman. All ASIFA-East members also qualify for a 10% discount on membership to The Productive coworking studio.

Our friends at Rooftop Films are once again offering ASIFA-East members a discount to their summer film festival! Thank you Rooftop! This email was also sent our via email.  Enter the code when buying tickets. It’s good for $3 off tickets to any show. They offer a ton of animation shorts all summer throughout the fest, so check them out!
