Happy Holidays, everyone! ASIFA-East member Doug Vitarelli sends us this bit of exciting news!

Long time NYC animator Doug Vitarelli has just completed a website for kids, www.WhereIsOlifant.com, that has stories, games, activities and a store.

It’s about Olifant, a dinosaur who lives in Central Park, who spends his days picking berries, making pies, hiding from Dr. Lenteo and making sure Rahaggio, the warthog, doesn’t cause too much trouble.

Doug came up with the idea 7 years ago when his son asked for a story. Since he loved dinosaurs and playing in Central Park Doug just combined the two. The next day on the way to school a new story would be made up and on the way to work it would be written into a sketchbook. Three years later with hundreds of stories and sketches Doug then developed the project and tried to sell it as a tv series and while that dream died his passion for the project did not.

With his diy attitude and a single minded focus Doug balanced full time work, part time teaching and a family life for just over a year to complete the website. And he’s not done yet. The site will continue to grow over the next few years so stay tuned.
