Happy New Year everyone!!  Welcome to 2015!  Here’s to a productive, exciting, and creative year.  We’ve got a lot of events coming up this winter and spring.  First you must join us for a drink at the Galway Hooker on Thursday, January 8th at 7pm for our Post-Holiday Party!  We’ll be mixing and mingling, enjoying free appetizers and a cash bar (with happy hour specials until 9:00pm). Members get in free; non-members are welcome to attend for a $5 donation. Details via the link.

Get your pads and pencils ready because Figure Drawing returns on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at The Productive.  ASIFA-East members are free!

Our annual Business Workshop event is on Tuesday, February 3rd.  Steven Zelin, The Singing CPA, is joining us for a discussion on all things taxes. Steven’s done this workshop with us for a few years now, and it’s always a big hit. Bring all your tax questions – we know you have many – and come prepared to sing along! Whether you are a freelancer looking for deductions, or working full time and have questions about retirement planning, there will be something helpful for everyone at this event.   Stay tuned to our calendar for all details.

And now for the big news!  The ASIFA-East Annual Animated Film Festival is now taking digital submissions!  Entries are  being accepted in the Student, Commissioned, Independent, and Music Video categories.  Don’t worry – if you would still like to submit via good old mail, you can still do so by downloading the mail-in form here.  To learn more about submission requirements and to enter the festival, visit the 2015 Festival page.

Judging begins March 17, 2015! All current ASIFA-East members are eligible and strongly encouraged to participate in our juror screenings. Now is the time to become a member and participate in selecting our 2015 Award Winners!! Jury Screening Nights are as follows:

Tuesday, March 17, 2015: SVA: 3rd Floor Amphitheater. Ballot pickup begins at 6:30pm. Screening 7pm sharp.
Thursday, March 19, 2015: SVA: 3rd Floor Amphitheater. Ballot pickup begins at 6:30pm. Screening 7pm sharp.
Tuesday, March 24, 2015: SVA: Room 502. Ballot pickup begins at 7pm. Screening 7:30pm sharp.
Thursday, March 26, 2015: SVA: 3rd Floor Amphitheater. Ballot pickup begins at 6:30pm. Screening 7pm sharp.

Our Awards Ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 17th, 2015. Details are forthcoming.
