ASIFA’s Open Screening

Last Thursday, October 20th, ASIFA held it’s annual Open Screening night at Tisch-NYU, 721 Broadway.  About 35 attendees screened their recent work, works in progress, and reels to a packed house eager to be inspired.  And inspired we were.  There were tons of great films shown and the works in progress were a tremendous tease.  There’s a lot of amazing talent coming out of local schools these days!  I can’t wait to see the finished pieces.  There were also a great amount of professionals who showed commercials, music videos, personal films, and short films.  It was an exciting night, and a great chance for filmmakers to screen their work and get feedback, without the added tension of festival judging.  In March 2009, ASIFA will hold a series of 3-4 jury screenings, where ASIFA members will rate submissions for the highly anticipated Annual ASIFA-East Festival Awards, which are held in May.  Keep your membership up to date so you can participate in this exciting voting process!
