ASIFA-East is excited to announce a lottery drawing a pair of tickets to see the groundbreaking new film, An Oversimplification of Her Beauty! We’ve been given 2 more tickets to see the film at Cinema Village during the week of 5/3 – 5/9. Open to current ASIFA-East members only. To enter, please send your full name and email address to asifaeastblogger@gmail.com by 11:59pm, Wednesday, May 1st. Winner will be selected Thursday, May 2nd.
The tickets will be valid at Cinema Village, 22 E 12th St New York, NY 10003, starting 5/3, and the winner may attend any show of the film. Tickets are first-come first-served, so until the tickets are picked for a specific screening, the shows are subject to sell out. Winner will be given the opportunity to select a specific show time.
Synopsis:
Executive producers Jay-Z, Dream Hampton, and Wyatt Cenac present Terence Nance’s explosively creative debut feature, AN OVERSIMPLIFICATION OF HER BEAUTY. With arresting insight, vulnerability, and a delightful sense of humor, the film utilizes a tapestry of live action and multiple styles of animation as it documents the relationship between Terence (Nance) and a lovely young woman (Namik Minter) as it teeters on the divide between platonic and romantic. Blurring the line between narrative, documentary, and experimental film, the film explores the fantasies, emotions, and memories that race through Terence’s mind as he examines and re-examines a singular moment in time.
