J.J. Sedelmaier has been working in the animation industry for over 45 years. Starting as a freelance inbewteener, he continued on as an assistant
animator, animator, designer, producer, and finally as the President/Director of J.J. Sedelmaier Productions, Inc. (1990-2024), a animation and design studio that he and his wife Patrice established in 1990. “JJSP” created and produced some of the most influential animated productions in the past 3 decades.
MTV’s “Beavis and Butthead” , NBC/Saturday Night Live’s “Saturday TV Funhouse” cartoon series (including “The Ambiguously Gay Duo” ), Cartoon Network/Adult Swim’s “Harvey Birdman”, Stephen Colbert’s “Tek Jansen” , all had their beginnings at the Sedelmaiers’ White Plains studio!
In addition to TV network cartoon series, the White Plains NY studio produced over 500 animated commercial films and won over 700 prestigious awards (Annie, Annecy, Regional Emmy and Art Directors Club kudos included) with screenings in over 100 festivals in 25 different countries.
Sedelmaier is an experienced educator (NYU/SVA), curator of exhibits on animation and design, architectural preservationist with two structures on the National Register Of Historic Preservation. He is also a contributing editor/author for Print Magazine’s “Imprint” (https://www.printmag.com/categories/j-j-sedelmaier/). He’s been a regular presenter at ComicCons throughout the USA and the subject of numerous interviews in all facets of media. J.J.’s interests are wide and varied, If you Google him, you’ll become very confused… he likes that.
He considers it a high honor to be an ASIFA-East Board Member.
