PHILADELPHIA FILM & ANIMATION FESTIVAL OPENS SEPT 29
Hundreds of international filmmakers flock to Philadelphia for festival & Red Carpet
Philadelphia, PA, September 26, 2011 – Project Twenty1, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to helping creatives through film and animation programs, will launch its annual Philadelphia Film & Animation Festival (PFAF) this Thursday in University City, Philadelphia. Over four days, PFAF will host 128 short and feature-length independent films, including over 60 World Premieres. Screenings include dozens of shorts created this summer during the annual 21-Day Filmmaking Competition, a contest where teams of creatives from all over the world have three weeks to create a film or animation. Participants this year include teams from Hong Kong, Canada, and beyond.
PFAF also hosts an array of film industry workshops, including unusual topics such as “Forensic Realism” for film by C.L. Zastrow, a government blood spatter and forensics analyst; New Media topics such as “How to Monetize Online Content” by Ryan Schott, a professional online ad consultant; as well as more traditional topics such as “How to Write for Short Film” by Professor David Greenberg.
In addition, this year’s festival will include opening and closing night parties, a “Friday Night Fright” Horror Showcase/costume party, and a star-studded Red Carpet Awards Show featuring Deborah Twiss (Kick-Ass), James Rolfe (Angry Video Game Nerd), and Jon Douglas Rainey (It Takes a Thief).
All screenings will be located at the International House Philadelphia, 3701 Chestnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19104.
“I participate every year,” says filmmaker Jason Heffner of Hatfield, PA, “It’s the best thing I could have ever done for my film career.”
