DESCRIPTION:Illustrators 61 Exhibit: Part Two: Book and Editorial\n \nCelebrating its 60th anniversary of publication\, the Society of Illustrators is pleased to present the premier showcase for illustrators\, featuring over 400 pieces of the most outstanding works created throughout each year. Open to artists worldwide\, thousands of entries are considered by a jury of professionals\, which include renowned illustrators\, art directors and designers. \nGold and silver medals are presented to the illustrators and art directors whose works are judged the best in each category.  \nIn the second part of this two-part exhibit\, works featured in the Book and Editorial categories are on display. \nPieces in the Book category include all illustration originally commissioned for use inside or on the covers of hardbound and paperback books. This year’s Gold Medal winners are Sally Wern Comport for Zora & Me: The Cursed Ground (Client: Candlewick Press\, AD: Pamela Consolazio)\, Thomas Ehretsmann for We Have Always Lived In The Castle (Client: Centipede Press\, AD: Jerad Walters)\, and John Hendrix for The Faithful Spy (Client: Abrams Books for Young Readers/ Amulet Books\, AD: Chad Beckerman). Silver Medals are awarded to Nora Krug for Belonging — A German Reckons with History and Home (Scribner/ Simon & Schuster)\, Yuko Shimizu for Japanese Tales (Client: Folio Society\, AD: Raquel Leis Allion)\, and Armando Veve for Knowledgeable Creatures (Client: Tor.com\, AD: Irene Gallo).  \nThe editorial category includes work commissioned by newspapers or magazines. Gold Medals are awarded to Johanna Goodman for We Are Not the Resistance (Client: The New York Times\, AD: Jim Datz)\, R. Kikuo Johnson for Safe Travels (Client: The New Yorker\, AD: Francoise Mouly)\, and Mark Ulriksen for In Creative Battle (Client: The New Yorker\, AD: Francoise Mouly). DESCRIPTION:Register Now | Business Entities for Artists\n\nOnline workshop will take place on Tuesday\, February 19.\nThe New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) is pleased to offer an opportunity for artists of all disciplines to participate in the online workshop “Business Entities for Artists” on Tuesday\, February 19\, 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM EST. Lawyer Zak Shusterman\, who contributed to the legal chapters of The Profitable Artist (Allworth Press\, 2018)\, will present on the topic. \nWorkshop Description:\nIf you’re earning even part of your living as an artist\, you should consider whether forming a separate business entity is the right decision for you. This workshop will review the questions you need to ask yourself at the beginning of this decision-making process. Then\, we’ll move on to discussing the most common business structures for artists\, from remaining a sole proprietor to limited liability companies\, the standard corporation types\, and the new benefit corporation option. His clients include individual artists and producers\, arts councils\, arts centers\, and world-renowned entertainers. A twice-recognized “Rising Star” in the nonprofit sector\, Shusterman regularly presents workshops for artists\, entrepreneurs\, and nonprofits. In addition to his legal practice\, he helps run Bethany Arts Community\, a large arts center in Westchester; produces a Moth-style storytelling series called “Pros(e) of Pie;” and experiments in woodworking and metalworking. \nThis program is part of NYFA Learning\, which includes professional development for artists and arts administrators.
