DESCRIPTION:Register Now | Business Entities for Artists\n\nOnline workshop will take place on Tuesday\, February 19.\nThe New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) is pleased to offer an opportunity for artists of all disciplines to participate in the online workshop “Business Entities for Artists” on Tuesday\, February 19\, 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM EST. Lawyer Zak Shusterman\, who contributed to the legal chapters of The Profitable Artist (Allworth Press\, 2018)\, will present on the topic. \nWorkshop Description:\nIf you’re earning even part of your living as an artist\, you should consider whether forming a separate business entity is the right decision for you. This workshop will review the questions you need to ask yourself at the beginning of this decision-making process. Then\, we’ll move on to discussing the most common business structures for artists\, from remaining a sole proprietor to limited liability companies\, the standard corporation types\, and the new benefit corporation option. It will be available for viewing up to six months after the workshop date. \nPresenter\nZak Shusterman advises a range of entrepreneurs\, creatives\, and organizations in both the for-profit and non-profit sector at all stages of their development. His clients include individual artists and producers\, arts councils\, arts centers\, and world-renowned entertainers. A twice-recognized “Rising Star” in the nonprofit sector\, Shusterman regularly presents workshops for artists\, entrepreneurs\, and nonprofits. In addition to his legal practice\, he helps run Bethany Arts Community\, a large arts center in Westchester; produces a Moth-style storytelling series called “Pros(e) of Pie;” and experiments in woodworking and metalworking. \nThis program is part of NYFA Learning\, which includes professional development for artists and arts administrators.
