DESCRIPTION:Register Now | Art Law: Contractual Terms\n\nAnyone with an internet connection can register and participate in this online workshop on Tuesday\, January 15.\nThe New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) is pleased to offer an opportunity for artists of all disciplines to participate in its upcoming “Art Law: Contractual Terms” workshop\, which will feature the expertise of lawyer John Wierzbicki. The workshop will take place online on Tuesday\, January 15\, 2019\, 6:30 PM-8:00 PM EST.  \nWorkshop Description\nThis workshop seeks to empower artists by guiding them through the general meaning of terms that they will likely see in contracts throughout their practice. Topics include copyright and other ownership rights\, “reasonable efforts” clauses\, risk of loss\, indemnification\, termination\, and morality clauses. Wierzbicki is a lawyer in the publishing industry who has conducted workshops on copyright\, contracts\, and negotiation to artists and art students on both coasts. He has presented at several NYSCA/NYFA Artist As Entrepreneur Programs in New York State and at NYFA’s Immigrant Artist Mentoring Program: Oakland. It will be available for viewing up to six months after the workshop date. \nPresenter\nJohn Wierzbicki has conducted workshops on law\, contracts\, and negotiations to artists and art students throughout New York state; in the Washington\, DC area; and in California. A graduate of U.C. Berkeley\, the University of Virginia\, and Georgetown University Law Center\, Wierzbicki practiced law in California before moving to New York state. He helped found the author contracts and relationship group at Thomson Reuters’ Legal Publishing Division\, which he led for nearly 10 years. Wierzbicki is currently the Co-Director of the Witkin Legal Institute in San Francisco\, and is a member of the board of directors at the Flower City Art Center in Rochester\, NY. \nThis program is part of NYFA Learning\, which includes professional development for artists and arts administrators.
